Universal accessibility as a standard in human rights and sustainable development

Abstract

This article analyzes the principle of universal accessibility as a human rights standard enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and in the Inter-American Convention on the Protection of Human Rights of Older Persons of the Organization of American States. The analysis covers the linkage of the principle of universal accessibility to the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development with respect to sustainable cities and communities; the relationship of this principle to corporate human rights obligations and its importance in the covid-19. pandemic context.
