Risk of Crime in Chile. Case Study in the Framework of Situational Projects of Public Spaces Recovery in the Commune of Tome

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the results of a research carried out with the purpose of knowing the effects of two situational interventions of Recovery of Public Spaces to promote crime prevention in Chile, specifically in the commune of Tomé. This study was financed by the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security of Chile. As part of the research methodology a fieldwork study was conducted, in which the direct beneficiaries of the project were asked about their opinion regarding the "Situational project' developed near their homes. Interviews were made using an open question guideline. This data collection strategy made it possible to qualitative evaluate a public security policy. This paper analyzes the results obtained and presents conclusions regarding this type of interventions.
