In the present document some reflections around the importance are exposed that possesses the logical cross national for the execution of studies linked to development. A revision of fundamental concepts is planted like the development and the need of the functional equivalence. The document continuous with a reflection guided since the notion of social development; assuming critically that the development has been expressed like intent by achieving a x-ray of the "all" that has forgot the integration of its constituent parts, denying in this manner the diversity as essential condition to give sense to the idea of an integrative vision. Finally a revision of CASEN (survey) is carried out as instrument to measure the social development in Chile.
